Privacy and Public Records

Have you been receiving mortgage loan solicitations in the mail from practically every state in the union? How did they get your name? How do they know that your mortgage is with First Guaranty Bank? What happened to Privacy? First Guaranty Bank wants you to know -

A key fact (that most of us forget) is that all mortgages, liens, judgments, and other documents are recorded in the public record. For example, anyone around the world can look up a Duval County mortgage or other public record document via the City of Jacksonville/Duval County website or they could physically go to the clerk of the court's office and get information including what financial institution you used.

The seemingly 'know it all' type of loan companies get your mortgage information from the public records. They hire people to sit at computers all day and gather mortgage information. They do mass mailings and hope someone will then use their loan company.

With all the privacy concerns of today you would think that this could not happen, but Public Records is an area that First Guaranty Bank or other financial institutions can't control. So the next time you get a loan solicitation, please know First Guaranty Bank did not give out your information. We know your business with us is nobody's business but yours. We do not sell, nor have we ever sold, information about you to anyone—First Guaranty Bank has strict written policies on Privacy and our auditors and examiners watch and comment on our performance.

Please remember, we are here to serve you and we would be glad to review a loan request from you when you have a need. Isn't it nice to know that you are special to us and you are the reason why we continue to be a Five Star rated bank.
